My name is C. Colt Crane and I am a Journalist. I graduated from Boise State University with a degree in English and Communications where I cut my teeth writing news for Boise State’s student newspaper The Arbiter. During my time with The Arbiter, I was able to develop my news gathering and writing skills as the Lead News Journalist. I wrote about many diverse topics including video games, academic budget cuts, student organizations, religious lawsuits, and other topics pertaining to the university and college culture.
I also enjoy creative fiction and non-fiction writing. My passion lies in video game journalism and I follow the industry aggressively. I am a father. I am a husband. I feel that these two roles are my most important and I constantly strive to be a better person in these capacities. My writing reflects who I am as a father, as a husband, as a gamer, and as a news journalist.
My philosophies about writing stem from my desire to allow the story to tell itself. Whether fiction or non-fiction, stories are living, breathing things that need an audience. My journalistic sense helps me to present news as it should be: based in fact and free of sensationalism. News writing must be objective in tone and purpose. Journalistic writing, like creative writing, is a living thing; the facts will tell the story as an objective and bias-free commentary on the world we live in.
